Long-Term Visa to Ukraine: General Information

A long-term visa, or a visa of category “D,” is issued to foreign nationals and stateless individuals who plan to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days. This type of visa is issued as a multiple-entry visa and is valid for 90 days. During this period, the foreigner is required to apply for a residence permit or another document that allows for lawful long-term stay in Ukraine.

Purposes for Obtaining a Long-Term Visa

A long-term visa is granted for various purposes, including:

– Family reunification;

– Employment;

– Academic studies;

– Engaging in cultural, educational, or religious activities;

– Participation in international organizations or business activities.

Procedure for Applying for a Long-Term Visa

The process for obtaining a long-term visa in Ukraine begins with gathering the necessary documents, which depend on the purpose of your visit. It’s important to contact the Ukrainian embassy or consulate in your country of residence to clarify the list of required documents.

The consul has the right to request additional documents and may require a personal interview with the applicant. If further administrative processing is needed after the interview, the application may take several weeks to be finalized.

When dealing with complex migration issues, it is recommended to seek the help of a specialized lawyer to ensure a full understanding of the legal intricacies.  Consider making an appointment for a consultation.

Without a lawyer

Elevated risk of errors and setbacks

Wasted time and money on avoidable inefficiencies

With a lawyer

Full compliance with requirements and guaranteed results

Efficiently saving both time and money

Visa Processing Time

The processing time for a “D” category visa depends on the type of application:

– Expedited processing – within 5 business days after submission of the required documents. In this case, a double consular fee is charged. Note that expedited processing is not available for all countries.

– Standard processing – within 10 business days, unless specified otherwise by international agreements. This period can be extended up to 30 business days if additional checks are required.

Legalization of Documents

It is important to note that all documents issued by foreign authorities must be legalized and translated into Ukrainian. Documents issued in the so-called “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” are not recognized.

For complex migration issues, it is recommended to consult a specialized lawyer for an accurate understanding of the legal details. Sign up for a consultation and consider your options.
